Columbia man, 35, killed crossing Bluff Road

RICHLAND COUNTY, SCA 35-year-old Columbia man was killed while crossing Bluff Road late Wednesday night.

The man, identified as Jerry F. Johnson by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, was crossing Bluff Road near Eden Street around 11:55 p.m. when he was struck by a car, SC Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres said.

The driver of the two-door Dodge, Grayson M. Beard, 22, Columbia, was driving east on Bluff Road. It was not immediately known if he suffered any injuries.

Johnson was wearing dark clothing, Beres said, and died from injuries he sustained during the collision. The incident is under investigation by the highway patrol.
