As people talk of gun control in the wake of the events in Connecticut, Sen. Lindsey Graham said in jest we should outlaw all sharp objects. The fact is that if a bad person wants to kill people, he or she does not need a gun of any magazine size.
I could inflect more pain with my Jeep on a playground than the kid in Connecticut. Timothy McVeigh didn’t need a firearm to do what he did in Oklahoma City. Bad people do bad things. And they will find a way.
The newspaper in White Plains, N.Y., where I used to work, published a list of all gun owners for the world to see. Reckless. But I am not afraid of gun thieves if you do that locally. I want people to know there are guns in my house so they won’t be surprised when I introduce them to the devil or their higher power when they break in.
