COLUMBIA, SC — Workshop Theatre can stay at its current location downtown until mid-2014.

Officials at the University of South Carolina are willing to let the facility operate there until then, school spokesman Wes Hickman said Friday.

Workshop rents its site at 1136 Bull St.

USC is putting the finishing touches on plans to build a new law school on the block that includes the theatre. The 46-year-old theatre faces a search for a temporary home if it is not ready to proceed with building a new facility near Elmwood Cemetery.
