In the next two weeks, SCE&G will be trimming trees along power lines in several Columbia neighborhoods.
The work will be monitored daily by city arborists, a Friday news release from the citys forestry and beautification office said.
The neighborhoods are Celia Saxon, Booker Washington Heights, Colonial Heights, Colonial Park, the Colonial West neighborhoods and Lincoln Park.
The city allows the utility company to trim city-owned trees to improve reliability of power during storms. Still, the practice has proved controversial among residents.
