RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — A shooting has left one dead and two others injured after gunmen forced their way into a home north of Columbia, police say.
Brandon M. Jones, 22, of Columbia, died from gunshot wounds to the upper body, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.
Richland County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call just after 11 p.m. Friday at a home in the 4100 block of Williamsburg Drive, near the Congaree River. They found three victims, including Jones, with gunshot wounds, according to department spokesman Deputy Curtis Wilson.
Two of the victims had been shot in their upper bodies, while Jones had shots in his upper and lower body. Jones died as a result of his injuries while in surgery at Palmetto Health Richland hospital, Watts said.
The gunmen forced their way into the home, Wilson said. One of the suspects shot one of the victims, then the second suspect pulled out a large-caliber handgun and shot the other two, he said.
The sheriff’s department does not have a description of the suspects but is continuing to investigate, Wilson said.
Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at (888) 274-6972.
