Keenan travels to face Fairfield Central on Tuesday for a varsity basketball doubleheader that has huge implications in the Region 3-2A championship races.

Both Keenan clubs enter the rematch with the Griffins in first place with 7-0 records. Fairfield Central’s two teams are one game off the pace at 6-1 in conference matters. A Keenan sweep assures both teams of the region’s No. 1 state playoffs seed, but will need one on win to officially clinch the outright championship.

Zach Norris’ Raider boys (16-5, 7-0) are on quite roll with 10 wins in their last 11 outings. In region play to date, Keenan is averaging 77.0 points a game, while allowing 46.7.

Marcus Stroman (17.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 6-5, apg, 2.9 spg), Eric Hopkins (15.3 ppg, 2.2 spg) and Charles Smith (9.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg) are the big guns for the Raiders.

Keenan was a 61-43 winner against FC in the first meeting on Jan. 11.

The Raider girls (11-7, 7-0) knocked of the Griffins, ranked No. 1 in the state at the time, by a stunningly comfortable 55-44 margin. Keenan built a 34-20 lead by the end of the first half and had it on cruise control the rest of the way.

Fairfield had no answer for Raider senior star Keira Robinson, who hung 32 points on 11-for-20 marksmanship on the Griffins. As if that wasn’t enough, the McDonald’s All-America Games nominee also rang up three rebounds, four blocks, five assists and seven steals.
