Columbia, SC — If Lillian McBride kept a high-paying position with Richland County government, how can firing Chapin teacher Scott Compton even be considered?

OK, stomping on the flag was a little over the top, and a poor illustration on his part. However, in these days of iPads and video games, teachers have to be performers to even get their students’ attention.

While I have no personal knowledge of Mr. Compton or his teaching methods, I bet students are learning and achieving in his classes. Don’t fire him.
