Lexington man charged with trafficking crystal meth

— A Lexington 55-year-old was arrested after deputies found two marijuana plants, $4,815 cash and more than 10 grams of crystal meth in his home on Oron Court Tuesday.

Ray Hubert Adkins, 55, is charged with trafficking in the crystal form of methamphetamine, manufacturing marijuana, simple possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon during the commission of a violent crime, Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Atkins’ home after an officer smelled marijuana from inside the home while serving a court bench warrant for the man.

During the search, deputies found the plants, drugs and cash along with four handguns, a rifle, digital scales and bags used to package drugs. The meth found at the home could fetch about $1,000 if sold on the streets, Metts said.

Adkins is being held at Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
