Lexington-Richland 5 School board dispute

Published: February 1, 2013

School officials took the next step Friday to settle nonresidency questions about school board member Kim Murphy.

A hearing on the matter is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at district headquarters, 1020 Dutch Fork Road, Irmo.

A check of updated county borders by state officials found Murphy’s home isn’t in Richland County as long thought but is just inside adjoining Lexington County.

She is fighting removal from the board, saying it’s an effort to oust her from the post representing Richland County to which she was elected in November 2010.
