Richland County house fire causes $70,000 in damages

Published: February 2, 2013

— A house fire in a Dentsville-area neighborhood in Richland County Friday night caused $70,000 in damages, officials say.

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. Friday in a home on Cermack Street between Decker Boulevard and Percival Road.

The fire started in a gas furnace and was confined to inside the home, Columbia-Richland Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said.

The blaze was brought under control quickly, Lewis said.

No injuries were reported, but three adults and two children living in the home were forced to stay elsewhere for the night.
