LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — A Columbia man has been charged with felony DUI in connection with an accident that left one person dead, the West Columbia Police Department announced Monday.

James Mason Snell, 24, of Margrave Road has been charged in the accident, which took place around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night at Meeting Street and Sunset Boulevard, the department said in a news release.

The victim, identified by the Lexington County Coroner's office as Forrest A. Watson, 26, of Hattiesburg, Miss., died at Lexington Medical Center from injuries he sustained in the crash. He was a passenger in one of the two vehicles involved in the wreck, according to the coroner's office.

Snell was taken to a hospital after the accident, the release said, and will be tranferred to the Lexington County Detention Center he has completed treatment. His condition was not known Monday afternoon.

West Columbia police provided no other details of the accident.
