RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — Four men face charges in connection with a Friday killing in a Columbia area home, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday.
Maurice Roberts, 17, Demetrice James, 18, Deshawn McClary, 19, and Vincent Nelson Jr., 21, have been arrested and charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and burglary, a news release said.
According to reports, the four suspects broke into a home in the 4000 block of Williamsburg Drive after 11 p.m. and shot Brandon Jones, 22, multiple times, then shot two other men and beat one of them with a pistol.
All three victims were taken to a local hospital, where Jones died of his gun shot wounds, coroner Gary Watts said. The other two are expected to survive, though their conditions were not known Monday afternoon.
Witness reports helped lead to the four arrests, the news release said.
The four suspects were being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Monday.
