Woman killed in Elgin wreck identified

February 4, 2013

— An Elgin woman has been identified as the victim of a Friday collision.

Brittany M. Powell, 23, of Elgin Road, died at the scene of the 1:50 p.m. accident on the same road, about a half-mile from her home, Richland County coroner Gary Watts said. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Powell’s 5-month-old daughter, who was in a child restraint seat in the back of the car, survived the crash.

Powell was driving her car when it collided with another vehicle, according to reports. The condition of the other driver was not known Monday afternoon.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
