LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a 38-year-old Columbia man on charges in connection with a break-in at an Irmo area business.
Ian Arthaniel Harris, 38, of Makeway Drive, is charged with second-degree burglary in the incident, which occurred at a Two Men and a Truck moving service at 2006 Rockland Road around 9:30 p.m. Feb. 2.
An arrest warrant alleges that the suspect forced open a rear door of the business, then took seven folders that contained paperwork and blank checks that were issued on the business bank account. The suspect formerly worked at the business but was terminated about a month ago for misconduct, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputies responded to a burglar alarm shortly after the break-in, and the suspect was seen running in the woods about 100 yards from the business, reports said. The suspect stopped running when he saw one of the deputies get out of a car to stop him.
Deputies recovered the items taken from the business, reports said.
Harris was being held Monday at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
