The Region 4-3A basketball campaign concludes on Tuesday, but though the picture is clear atop the boys and girls standings there is still plenty of drama left in the last-ditch bid for postseason berths.
The only team with no mathematical chance at making the playoff cut is Westwoods boys.
The key outing is Chapin at Camden. The winner of the boys game makes the cut and the loser is out. If Chapin wins and A.C. Flora tops Dreher, the Eagles would get the No. 3 seed with Dreher at No. 4.
The girls situation is far less clear. Chapin, A.C. Flora and first-year Westwood are tied at 3-6 with Camden in last with a 2-7 mark. If Camden wins, Flora losses to Dreher and Westwood falls to undefeated Lower Richland, a four-way tie for the final two playoffs spots is a reality.
If Chapin wins, the Eagles are in and the Bulldogs are out, leaving Flora and Westwood to sort the final invitation.
Lower Richlands boys are playoff-bound and assured of at least one home game in the postseason, but the Diamond Hornets blew a chance to lock up the No. 1 seed and the outright region title by losing to A.C. Flora on Saturday. LR can take care of both items of business with a win on Tuesday.
Tuesdays final round games: A.C. Flora at Dreher, Westwood at Lower Richland, Chapin at Camden.
