IRMO, SC — A manhunt is on for a Columbia man who led police on a chase through Lexington and Richland Counties Tuesday morning.
The suspect, identified as Quintin Lafayette Garrett of Richcreek Road, Columbia, is on the run after driving away from a traffic stop on Lake Murray Boulevard about 10 a.m., Irmo Police Chief Brian Buck said.
After fleeing the stop, the Garrett allegedly led officers on a chase on Broad River Road and Zimalcrest Drive before getting on I-26 and I-20 into Richland County. He got onto SC 277 before abandoning his black Mitsubishi Galant between the highways third and fourth mile markers.
Irmo police, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Richland County Sheriffs deputies and Columbia police were all involved in the chase and are now looking for Garrett, Buck said.
Arrest warrants against Garrett have been issued charging him with driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue lights and seatbelt violation, Buck said.
