CAJ in lockdown mode at Lamar

Published: February 6, 2013

C.A. Johnson closes out the regular season with final Region 3-1A games on Thursday at Lamar.

The Green Hornets girls (7-12, 5-2) can lock up the region’s No. 2 state playoff seed with a win over the Silver Foxes. CAJ nipped Lamar 35-33 in the first meeting in Columbia on Jan. 22.

The C.A. Johnson boys (6-12, 3-4) can finish second with a win to complete a conference sweep of the Silver Foxes in conjunction with a loss by McBee to first-place Lewisville. The Green Hornets are currently tied for fourth place with McBee, which beat Great Falls on Tuesday putting the Red Devils in last place and in danger of missing the postseason party for the first time since 1990.

Lamar sports a 4-3 region mark and is coming off an upset win against Lewisville on Tuesday.
