Teenager shot in St. Andrews

Richland County sheriff's deputies investigate shooting on Piney Grove Road that left a 16-year-old hospitalized.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the lower body outside a residence on Piney Grove Road Wednesday.

A call reporting ‘shots fired’ came in to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department shortly after 5 p.m,spokesman Curtis Wilson said.

When deputies arrived on scene at the County Townes of St. Andrews townhomes at 1320 Piney Grove Rd. they found a young man who had been shot. He was taken to Palmetto Richland Hospital and is in critical condition after a surgery, Wilson said Thursday morning.
