Heavy fire reported by first units arriving on scene of structure fire on Waterford Dr.

BRICK LEWIS — RCFD

— A family of 6 has been displaced by a house fire on Waterford Drive, off Denny Road in a community between Monticello Road and Interstate 20.

'Heavy fire' was reported by the first units who arrived on scene around 3 p.m., Columbia-Richland Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said. No one was injured.

An investigation determined that unattended cooking caused the blaze that caused an estimated $50-$60,000 in damages, Lewis said.
