Its been a tough season for the Cardinal Newman girls basketball team, but the Cardinals closed out the SCISA Region 1-3A campaign scored a 54-40 win on Friday over Ben Lippen to avoid going winless in conference matters.
Senior Margo Deyling led the way with 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists. Junior Maigan Nieri chipped in 12 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field. Freshmen Brittney Desmond (11 points, 5 assists) and Claire Edwards (5 points, 8 rebounds) also played key roles.
The Cardinals (6-13, 1-7) close out the season with a non-region outing against First Baptist on Tuesday.
