— A 27-year-old found making meth in a hotel room in the Harbison area has been arrested, officials say.

Thomas Allen Pendarvis Jr., of Summerville, has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.

Columbia police officers found Pendarvis on Friday night at the Extended Stay on Kinley Road near Lake Murray Boulevard, where is accused of making meth inside a plastic bottle, Timmons said.

As a precaution, officers evacuated areas of the hotel near the room where the meth was discovered.

The State Law Enforcement Division assisted police in the investigation. A private company also was called to clean up the area.

Pendarvis is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
