— Two men are facing murder charges following a deadly fight at a bar early Saturday morning in Pawleys Island, said Carrie Cuthbertson, spokeswoman for the Georgetown County Sheriff’s office.

Thomas Edward Unrue Jr., 37, was killed following a fight at Lumpy’s Bar and Grill at 9259 Ocean Highway about 3 a.m. Saturday.

Unrue was unresponsive when a deputy arrived and CPR was started. Emergency Medical Services took over CPR and transported Unrue to Georgetown Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Cuthbertson said.

Ronnie Gene Ackley, 41, of Pawleys Island, is charged with murder and is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center. According to a Facebook page for Lumpy’s Bar, Ackley is an employee and member of the culinary team.

Chris Brian Campbell, 37, was found at his home in Lexington on Saturday afternoon and was arrested without incident, Cuthbertson said.

He is being held in the Midlands pending extradition to Georgetown County where he will be charged with murder.

Deputies on scene learned Unrue was asked to leave the bar multiple times, which started a verbal dispute outside the front door, Cuthbertson said.

Ackley and Campbell are accused of attacking Unrue in the parking lot until he lost consciousness.
