Two of the nations finest girls basketball players will square off on Tuesday at Heathwood Hall when the Highlanders host Providence Day from Charlotte in a non-region game of note.
The varsity doubleheader begins with the boys game at 6 p.m. and the girls to follow at 7:30 p.m.
Heathwoods Aja Wilson and and PDs Jatarie White are the spotlight players. Wilson, a 6-foor-5 junior, is ranked No. 1 on the espnW HoopGurlz Super 60 list for the Class of 214, while White, a 6-foot-3 junior, is No. 12.
Wilson is averaging 28.8 points, 14.5 rebounds, 5.6 blocks, 3.4 assists and 3.2 steals a game this season. White is at 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game.
Heathwood Hall, which won the SCISA Region 1-3A championship with an 8-0 mark, sports a 17-7 overall record. Providence Day is 23-3 overall, with a 7-0 league record with one left to play.
The game is Heathwoods final tune-up for the start of the SCISA state tournament. The Highlanders will have eight days off before its quarterfinal opener in Sumter on Feb. 20.
