Columbia, SC — A Feb. 5 letter, “Obama, Clinton failed America,” implied that President Obama’s “lack of experience” led to the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi. He has been our president for more than four years. How much experience does one need? The writer further lambasted the president and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for not being prepared for the 3 a.m. phone call concerning Benghazi.
Using that logic, George Bush was not prepared to receive the 10 a.m. phone call following the deaths of 3,000 Americans on 9/11, since he sat at the elementary school in Florida looking immobilized. President Bush’s “lack of experience” response led to several thousand more American deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan and got us into wars that have lasted more than 10 years.
I would venture to say that President Bush’s response on 9/11 set the precedent for how to respond to the 3 a.m. phone call.
