COLUMBIA, SC A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Tuesday after being struck by a car while trying to cross Assembly Street.
The pedestrian was walking west on Greene Street and had the signal at the crosswalk to continue across Assembly Street, according to an email release from Jennifer Timmons, spokeswoman for the Columbia Police Department. The 20-year-old woman suffered minor injuries and is in stable condition.
Laneisha Moskowitz was driving west on Greene Street in a red Nissan Altima and had the green light, police said. But she failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn. She was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Timmons said.
