Undefeated, top-ranked Irmo headlines the Midlands contingent in the first round of the Class 4A state boys basketball playoffs on Wednesday.

The Yellow Jackets (24-0) host Clover in a big-school opener, but the area highlight figures to be Lexington (17-9) vs. Ridge View (13-10) in the only all-Midlands clash in any classification so far. Spring Valley (16-9) takes on Northwestern in the other area home game.

Elsewhere, Richland Northeast (16-8) travels to face North Augusta and Dutch Fork (7-13) plays at Sumter.

The Class 2A boys also get underway on Wednesday.

Region 3 champion Keenan (19-5) is the only local team at home. The Raiders play host to Chesterfield. Otherwise, Columbia (11-12) plays at Cheraw and Batesburg-Leesville (13-8) hits the road to face Landrum.
