COLUMBIA, SC — A 28-year-old Columbia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to weapons and drugs charges in federal court Thursday.
John Henry Griffin, a member of the Bloods street gang, was arrested on outstanding warrants in September 2011 at the Flying J. Truck Stop in Columbia. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying a loaded handgun and about two ounces oif marijuana, US attorney Bill Nettles said. Griffin was arrested again three months later carrying a loaded handgun. Because of previous convictions, Griffin is prohibited from possessing possessing firearms or ammunition.
