Four PGA Tour golfers with huge fan bases have committed to this year's RBC Heritage.
John Daly, Brian Gay, Zach Johnson and Hunter Mahan have all committed to the 45th annual event, which will be held April 15-21 at the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.
Daly will be making his 10th appearance at Harbour Town. He has five PGA Tour wins, his first coming at the 1991 PGA Championship. He earned international fame in 1995 when he won the British Open.
Fans love his colorful attitude -- and pants. He recently shot his lowest round in five years at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Gay was voted January's Avis Player of the Month by PGA Tour fans, beating out Tiger Woods. He earned his fourth PGA Tour win at last month's Humana Challenge.
In 2009, Gay won at Harbour Town by a record 10 strokes, topping Davis Love III's seven-stroke win in 1998. His 20-under 264 total broke Loren Roberts' previous tournament scoring record of 19 under in 1996.
His win became just the ninth in PGA Tour history (dating back to 1970 when records began) to come with a double-digit winning margin. He made news again last year, when his caddie Kip Henley scared off an alligator on Harbour Town's hole No. 15 so he could make his third shot.
Johnson won the hearts of all RBC Heritage fans when he played in the 2007 tournament after winning The Masters the previous week. He has won eight additional times on the PGA Tour and has earned more than $26 million.
He finished second last year in his eighth Heritage appearance, five strokes behind Carl Pettersson.
Mahan has five PGA Tour victories, including two wins in 2012.
The RBC Heritage, the only PGA Tour event in South Carolina, has been played at Harbour Town since 1969.
The Heritage Classic Foundation, the general tournament sponsor, distributes the proceeds from the tournament to hundreds of nonprofit organizations. Since it was founded as a 501 (c)(3) in 1987, the Foundation has donated more than $23.5 million to people in need.
