COLUMBIA, SC — A windy mix of wintry weather hit the Midlands late Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Mike Proud said a whole mixed bag of precipitation fell, anything from rain to sleet, to grapple and some wet snow. Grapple is a balled up form of snow, he said.
In Lexington, there were reports of thunder snow, Proud said, which is when snow mixes with lightning.
The system blew through around 6 p.m. The ground temperatures were too warm for accumulation, he said. The Upstate got 1 to 2 inches.
