Our website gets a makeover Tuesday

Executive EditorFebruary 19, 2013

We’re giving a makeover to South Carolina’s Homepage at thestate.com.

Starting this morning, you will notice improvements that make information easier to find on a site that is easier to navigate and faster to load.

Thursday, we will extend those upgrades to our popular sports website, gogamecocks.com.

The improved user experience is a result of months of research and review on ways to best present our award-winning journalism, compelling photojournalism and useful advertising.

Gary Ward, our managing editor for online content, reminds me that change has been constant since The State began delivering online news 18 years ago with breaking news coverage of the Upstate trial of Susan Smith, a young mother accused (and subsequently convicted) of killing her two young sons.

Since those days of dial-up modems, we have revised, tweaked and grown thestate.com and its array of digital offerings. With this week’s upgrade we have kept favorite features, including our SC Politics page, the SC Military page, MidlandsPreps.com, the Eaton Wright food and cooking section, and more.

Across time and technology, thestate.com has continued as a “must see” site for essential news and information about life in South Carolina. One value is unchanged: Our commitment to quality journalism and online news leadership.

You may have questions about the improvements. If so, please see the question-and-answer file at the top of thestate.com today and with gogamecocks.com on Thursday.

As always, we want to know what you think. Please share your thoughts and suggestions by using the customer service form on our site.

Thank you for being a reader of thestate.com and gogamecocks.com.
