Proposed Lexington apartment complex dropped

Published: February 19, 2013

— A proposal for a new apartment complex in downtown Lexington was scrapped Tuesday.

Connelly Development withdrew its plan for a four-story complex with slightly more than 50 units in the 200 block of Church Street.

Leaders of nearby St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and residents opposed the project.

Approval from Town Council for the complex to go forward was necessary since the number of units wanted on the 1.9-acre site was twice what is allowed by town development standards.
