— TripAdvisor has named Hunting Island State Park to its list of Top 25 Beaches in the U.S. in its annual Travelers’ Choice contest.

Winners are chosen based on reviews by TripAdvisor users.

Hunting Island is 14th on the list, which also includes locations such as Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, Hawaii; Siesta Key Public Beach in Sarasota, Fla.; and Gulf Islands National Seashore in Pensacola, Fla.

It is the only beach on the list from either of the Carolinas.

“We’re excited to be recognized by the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Beach awards for our very own Hunting Island State Park’s beaches,” said Robb Wells, tourism division executive at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce in a press release. “The miles of untouched, natural beaches, and variety of animals and vegetation are what make our area so special to tourists and locals alike.”
