COLUMBIA, SC — The Columbia Police Department and the S.C. Highway Patrol will set up a public safety checkpoint Friday night at the intersection of Harden and Heyward streets.
Every vehicle that passes through the checkpoint will be stopped and driver’s licenses will be checked, Columbia police said. Police will be enforcing other traffic laws, including driving under the influence.
The intersection was chosen because of recent collisions that have occurred, and police hope to reduce the number of accidents.
