College notes: Coastal raises out-of-state tuition, looks at department cuts

Published: February 24, 2013

Coastal Carolina University’s out-of-state students will be paying more for tuition, as the university’s board of trustees voted Friday to raise out-of-state tuition by 3 percent, along with other fees.

Tuition will remain the same for in-state students for the second year.

The board also gave Coastal’s administration approval to take any measures necessary to improve the university’s operational efficiencies. The board wants to reduce athletic and administrative costs by $250,000 each and academic costs by $500,000.
