Thank you for publishing the excellent column by Austin L. Hughes about evolution and religion actually being compatible (“Stop treating evolution, religion as incompatible,” Feb. 14). One can affirm the existence of God, or the energy and intelligence that created everything, and still embrace evolution.

There are some excellent books recently published on this subject. Anyone with a pioneer spirit might be interested in getting Evolutionaries: Unlocking the Spiritual and Cultural Potential of Science’s Greatest Idea by Carter Phipps.
