Rock Hill man pleads guilty to federal gun and drug charges

Published: February 27, 2013

— Jadaryl Andrew Hinton, 23 of Rock Hill, was arrested on February 10, 2012. The known gang member was in the front seat of a car pulled over for a traffic violation, U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles said. A search of the car found loaded guns and baggies of pot.

When police searched Hinton, they found a loaded gun in the waistband of his pants and several baggies of pot in his pants pocket, Nettles said.

Hinton is prohibited from carrying a gun or ammunition because of earlier state felony convictions. He also had numerous prior convictions for drug dealing.

He pleaded guilty in federal court in Columbia on Wednesday to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession with intent to distribute a quantity of marijuana. He could be sentenced to 10 years in prison for each charge and nearly a million dollars in fines.
