The Golden and Proud senior group at the Gadsden Community Center sponsored a Black History Celebration on Feb. 28, 2013, for students from Gadsden Elementary and Hope Academy. The group sang two songs and wore clothing representative of their heritage. Their mission was to let the students experience the heritage of their ancestors. There were displays of tools, household items, an outhouse, a smokehouse, and other lifestyle items.
