CCOLUMBIA, SC — Columbia Police are investigating an accident that occurred around 7:15 p.m. Saturday near Columbiana Centre that killed a man riding a motorcycle.

The driver apparently lost control of his bike and ran off the road into some woods at Crossbow Drive near Columbiana Drive, police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said. It appears he was not wearing a helmet, Timmons said.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
