Columbia, SC — Dr. Deborah Greenhouse states in her Feb. 20 letter, “Gagging pediatricians endangers children,” that part of her job is to talk to people about firearm safety. It is not. Her job is to treat sick children, give opinions on healthy choices for eating, etc.

Her First Amendment right to free speech needs to be checked at the door of employment just like mine is when I report to work; and I work within a school district.

Most people who own guns are safety conscience and do what is necessary to be safe. My dad taught me about guns and gun safety, and I have taught my son. Talks about gun safety belong to dads, not pediatricians. Pass H.3416.
