Gaston man charged in home burglary

— A Gaston man faces charges in a home break-in, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.

Dallas S. Gates, 21, of Stagecoach Road was arrested Thursday, a news release said. He is charged with second degree burglary in connection with a home break-in on Stagecoach Road near Gaston, in which clothing, $20 in cash, two video game players and other electronic devices were taken.

According to incident reports, deputies responded to a call about a home burglary in progress around 12:07 p.m. Thursday. A citizen saw the suspect leaving the home with items in his hands, the report said, and deputies using a K-9 police dog tracked him to electrical power lines near the home, where he was arrested.

Gates was being held Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
