— Tips from the public led deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to seize more than a dozen video poker machines this week, officials say.

Members of the department’s Community Action Team seized 14 video poker machines and more than $1,400 in cash at four Richland County businesses Thursday, department spokesman Deputy Curtis Wilson said.

The machines were found at 7Up Mini Mart, Citgo and Boss Hawg’s Lounge, on Leesburg Road, and Stevo’s Wings, on East Garners Ferry Road, Wilson said.

To date, the department has seized 55 illegal gambling machines and more than $10,000 from clubs, homes and convenience stores, Sheriff Leon Lott said.

The department received the tips about the machines through CrimeStoppers, which can be reached at 1-888-274-6373.
