Oh, the deplorable condition our country is in. A recent analysis of the “happiest” or “most prosperous” countries in which to live based on economy, quality of life, income, safety, etc., listed Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand as the top five.
And here’s why Australia is in the top five: My friend there recently picked up his granddaughter (age 6) at school. When she did not appear outside, he questioned a teacher and was told she was sleeping. He actually went to her classroom, picked her up, then introduced himself as her grandfather, walked out with her in his arms and took her home.
That would never, ever happen here. He would have needed to be on an “approved pick-up” list, show identification, pass through a metal detector and then be escorted to the room. The United States should be ashamed.
