Monday: Gun ban rhetoric lacking in logic

Published: March 11, 2013

The March 3 Metro photo of the 9-year-old children carrying “Ban Assault Weapons” signs was reprehensible, to say the least. Children of this age are not capable of making their own decisions based on logic and reason; their parents obviously put such thoughts in their minds and put them up to carrying the signs in “protest.”

Even the name of the organization, “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense,” is a paradox. Not one of their ideas is based on common sense or any other kind of “sense,” for that matter. All of the current gun ban rhetoric is completely devoid of logic and reason and is based purely on an emotional, knee-jerk reaction to the tragedy at Sandy Hook School.

Bill Clinton was able to have his gun ban enacted in 1994, and there was zero effect on the violent crime rate. When the ban expired in 2004, the liberal media warned of bloodshed in the streets, but in fact murder rates have been on the decline every year since.
