COLUMBIA, SC — Six people have been charged with fraudulently receiving unemployment benefits, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforces (DEW) Office of General Counsel announced Monday.
The six are accused of receiving unemployment benefits of more than $10,000 to which they were not entitled, the department said in a news release. Those charged are:
Sharon E. Gilmore, 41, of York County
Janie D. Gilstrap, 55, of Greenville County
Mario D. Gonzalez, 53, of Greenville County
Thomasina D. Hicks, 28, of Pickens County
Daryl T. Jefferson, 36, of Sumter County
Thomasenia H. Shivers, 56, of York County
Suspected unemployment insurance fraud can be reported anonymously to to the Department of Employment and Workforce at (803) 737-2400, Option 7. Callers can remain anonymous.
