WK in command in early 5-4A softball race

Published: March 13, 2013

Unbeaten White Knoll passed its second biggest test of the early softball season in Tuesday, downing Dutch Fork 3-1 on the road to take the early high ground in Region 5-4A.

The Timberwolves (8-0, 3-0) got a game-winning two-run triple from Lydia Trexler, two hits by Caroline Brown and a solid pitching performance by Savannah Terrapin, who out-dueled DF ace Hayley Elkins to run her record in the circle to 6-0.

Jenna Elkins had two hits off Terrapin for the Silver Foxes, who dropped to 3-1 overall, 2-1 in region matters.

Both teams have Thursday region games on tap – White Knoll at South Aiken and DF at home against Lexington – before taking part in the Wildcat Invitational tournament hosted by Lexington at the Pine Grove Sports Complex.
