— The Columbia man who died in a fiery car crash on SC 277 near Bull Street Tuesday has been identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

59-year-old Gary A. Raszewski was killed when his car left the roadway about 10:10 a.m., struck a concrete barrier and burst into flames, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

After the crash, police and civilians both tried to pull Raszewski from the car, but were unable to free the man. An autopsy showed he died from his injuries, Watts said.

The Columbia Police Department investigated the crash.
