— A 19-year-old faces charges in the shooting death of man in his Lexington area home.

Jeffrey O’Neal Kight, of Emma Drive in Lexington, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of William Rush Falls, 56, also of Emma Drive, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday.

Sheriff James R. Metts said Kight has been charged with murder and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Arrest warrants allege about 6:49 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect fatally shot Falls while he was standing in the kitchen of his home. Kight allegedly fired one round from a shotgun while standing outside Falls’ home in front of a glass window on the side of the residence, the warrant states, and the shotgun round penetrated the glass window and struck Falls in his neck and face.

Falls’ home surveillance camera allegedly captured pictures of the suspect outside the home, Metts said.

After executing a search warrant at Kight’s home, detectives found one shotgun and one expended shotgun shell in Kight’s bedroom, Metts said. Ballistics tests will be conducted to determine whether the shotgun was used in the shooting.

The motive for the shooting was not known Thursday.

Kight is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
