I support Mark Sanford for Congress. I brought my sons to Columbia to discuss our appalling education system, and amazingly, I met privately with Gov. Sanford. He was well-informed about my concerns and was able to offer viable solutions. I am still amazed by the experience — his knowledge and my access to him.

As governor, Sanford eliminated almost $1 billion in debt and deficit, was ranked the most financially conservative governor in the nation and instituted common-sense changes that streamlined government, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles reforms that shortened wait times from an hour to 15 minutes. He was ranked No. 1 in Congress for his efforts to limit federal spending and taxation, and he returned $250,000 in unspent office funds to the Treasury each year.

But the real reason that I support Mark Sanford in the race for the 1st Congressional District seat is that when he was governor, he took the time to meet with a mother who was concerned about her sons’ education.
