Outdoor burning ban lifted in Lexington County

Published: March 19, 2013

— Lexington County, on Tuesday, lifted the ban on outdoor debris burning in unincorporated areas of the county. The county’s action followed by one day the South Carolina Forestry Commission’s lifting the statewide red flag alert.

Rain, higher humidity, decreased winds and cooler temperatures reduced fire risks, the S.C. Forestry Commission announced Monday. There were more than 130 fires statewide over the weekend, according to preliminary figures from the Forestry Commission, including at least eight in Richland and Lexington counties.
