Wednesday: Men taught to defend women

Published: March 20, 2013

Richland County, SC The recent incident with Richland County Sheriff’s deputy Sheila Aull being shot and surrounded by her fellow officers reminded me of the feelings I had when the administration decided to send female soldiers to the front lines. As a former athlete, I know we women can do almost everything. What I worry about is what the men on the front lines will do if they see a woman in trouble. I had four brothers and three sons, and they were taught to take care of women.

I know this will not be received well by many; I just have not seen the men’s point of view anywhere else.
